I had to look up what a swimlane was but I'm assuming they're referring to this:
https://support.productboard.com/hc/en-us/articles/360056347454-How-to-use-swimlanes-to-organize-your-roadmaps
Sorry I should have been more precise.
Yes this is a good example, the concept also exist in Jira.

Hey y'all,
Thanks for your suggestion. Since we see a number of growing roadmaps on Sleekplan. This could be a starting point to make an improvement - in terms of simplicity.
Let's make things a little more clear:
@marco
Hi,
I agree with what has been said :
I'm assuming it would be something like a different view?
I would probably have it be something that can be automatically set by the admin or as a different view from the front-end.
So basically, we can set it as the default view from the back-end as admins. I would probably do it by category because I think it has to be a 1-1 relationship and not a 1-to-many relationship because you wouldn't be able to put the same task in two swimlanes from my understanding.
At the same time, you would allow general users to just change the view by adding a swimlane on the side or something of that nature from the front-end.

Yeah that's exactly our understanding of it + maybe some kind of backend switch like we have it yet: Where you can switch between list and kanban style and adding another option called kanban with swimlanes
@marco I think https://www.notion.so/ does a good job of handling different ways of viewing the same set of data in a minimalist and "sleek" manner.
I would check out their table, list, and kanban view.
