Customer Identity Controls: Random Usernames & Hidden Names ๐
A public feedback board reveals who your customers are. In B2B that can be a blocker: your board shows which companies use you, and one customer can see another by name. Two new settings put that under your control, and you can turn on either one or both. Random usernames Replaces every customer username with a neutral, generated handle like yellowtree or quietharbor. Everyone is renamed, and new customers get a random handle automatically, whether they register on the board, arrive through single sign-on, or are created by an integration. Customers can no longer set their own username. @mentions keep working, they just use the new handle. This one is permanent. The old usernames are replaced, not archived, so we ask you to confirm before it can be saved. Hide full names Hides real names and profile pictures from everyone except your team. Posts and comments then show only the username with a default avatar. Fully reversible: nothing is deleted, the data is simply not sent to the public board while the setting is on. It also closes a quieter gap. The @mention autocomplete stops matching customers by their real name, so nobody can type a competitor's or colleague's name into the composer to check whether they use your product. Your team is never affected Admins keep their real names, usernames, and avatars on the board, so a reply from your support team still looks like it came from a person. And in the admin dashboard you always see the real name and email address behind every post. Where to find it Open Settings โ Public Portal & Widget โ Access & Privacy and scroll to the new Customer identity section. Available on Business and above. Read the guide โ -- by Post #228970
